Prepare Your Own Eastern European Inspired Breakfast!
Healthy and Pleasing to the Palette
Content Editor: Alice On
When you want to let someone know how special they are or pamper yourself, I like to start with a splendid breakfast! The breakfast at an AirBnb I recently visited, the Country Bay Manor, reminded me what a treat this truly is! In Eastern Europe tradition, it was a substantial meal you can recreate at home! With a few touches like European-style tea and tableware, even beginners can create a five star experience!
This gorgeous breakfast doesn’t requires any early morning prep or too much planning at all. I’ve divided it into two parts. The first part is the breakfast Essentials - simple products that do not require any special treatments and can be kept in the refrigerator or a bread box. Store it while keeping in mind the expiry!
The second part is Daily Specials - ingredients you may vary daily according to your mood and seasonal favourites! Freshly cooked or processed, they are best used before the end of the day. With the availability of the breakfast essentials, I find usually one or two special items is perfect to make each breakfast a novel treat!
Breakfast Essentials
A LOT of organic tea
Oatmeal
Fresh milk, soy milk or almond milk
Whipped cream
Toast
Tamarisk orange juice
Organic yogurt
Organic fruit
Organic jam
Daily Specials With simple ingredients and simple cooking methods:
Yogurt Parfait
The AirBnb host Elaine's version was oatmeal-free and made with greek yogurt, blueberries and cranberries! Try these adaptions for yourself!
Sweet or Savoury Remakin
The must haves are a remakin dish and an oven, after that its as simple as cutting all your ingredients and you are ready to bake! Elaine used eggs, ham and avocado. Our Cambridge Cottage has a tutorial with similar ingredients you can check out!
You may even choose to add cream, tomato, ham, Parmesan cheese, egg or spring onion! Whatever you choose, just set the oven to 350 ° F and bake for about 10-15 minutes.
Muffins
Muffin should be regarded as the most successful pastry in the kitchen. As long as you mix all the wet ingredients together before pouring into the dry ingredients, there is a 99.9% success rate for hot and delicious muffins. If you don’t have an oven or are in a pinch for time most grocery shops have at least a few types to choose from. Just be sure to mind your sugar intake and products made from fresh and natural ingredients always taste best!
If you are allergic to gluten, eggs or have leaky gut syndrome, here are some vegan alternatives!
Eggs.
Packed with protein and super versatile, they are super fast to cook scrambled, poached or sunny-side-up!
In this video Downshiftology cuts the eggs at boiling increments of 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 minutes so that you can master the spectrum of soft-boiled to hardboiled eggs to suit your personal preference.
