An Irresistible Home Cooked Breakfast!

Compared to the fairytale chalet, this Country Bay Manor Bed and Breakfast is noticeably smaller, but a cozy and comfortable treasure none-the-less for couples and small families and groups.

Facing south into Nanoose Bay, there is a peaceful view of the sea and a small door that opens directly on to the beach. If weather allows, borrow Kayaks from the guesthouse for a serene paddle of the surrounding bay!

Simple Beauty

The decor in the room feels elegantly European - simple and beautifully crafted. Curated to cozy perfection there are touches of "hotel-style" hospitality like the dazzlingly pressed white bed linens and the water next to the bed. I thought this was quite lovely as it is a bit rare to encounter B&Bs with cotton swabs and other personal grooming effects on hand for guests.

The personal sofa is divinely comfortable! Sitting and working in this sunny corner was quite a treat. This space can accommodate up to four people, so if there are only two people you may keep the door closed to let the host know it is unused.

Elaine will leave breakfast outside your room in the morning. Can there be a more blissful sight to wake up to?

Homemade Breakfast in the Morning

During my stay, I received an early morning courtesy call from Larry, the resident Golden Retriever. His barks announcing the first day of 2020!

In the daylight, the scenery outside is just breathtaking. Adding to the scenery directly outside is a small farm where you can purchase elegant bouquets arranged by your host, Elaine Cowan, and fresh eggs from the free-range hens. On sunny days a sea-side breakfast is a spectacular must-have experience. I strongly recommended to visit in the summer as Nanaimo is home to a huge range of outdoor activities best enjoyed in warmer, drier and longer days!

Bathrobes are really comfortable and easy to wear!

Breakfast is crafted solely by Elaine, adding little variations every day. There is also cereals and milk you can help yourself to.

Shaun and I were worried we would have trouble finding restaurants on New Year's Day, but savouring every bite of this satisfying breakfast took us well past lunchtime.

Shuan started his ketogenic diet a few weeks ago, so sadly the Muffin and fruits were not part of his experience. I really couldn’t eat both portions so not wanting the beautiful breakfast to go to waste, I sent a message telling Elaine we didn’t need the yogurt parfait (You can’t eat four servings by yourself)! As the breakfast is made daily by Elaine she graciously customized an extra-large Ramekin for Shuan!

Tips:

• If you see the abbreviation B&B when booking, it means Bed and Breakfast, which means the accommodation provides breakfast!

• Be sure to ask the owner before feeding the animals.

• If you have food allergies, inform the host beforehand. Usually Airbnb hosts make breakfast by hand so be sure to respect their efforts and finish the fare whenever possible.
