J'ai toujours rêvé de réaliser un livre de voyage. Pas simplement un livre sur le voyage, mais un qui puisse nous accompagner, pour guérir, rire, pleurer. A travers le monde. Ensemble.
The trappings of French elegance has been a staple around the world for centuries - many luxury houses still releasing test products in Paris, giving the approval of the modern french woman the resounding air of international sophistication!
But if you found my book to imitate or unlock the secrets of these creatures of lore, I’m afraid you will be sorely disappointed! I’m going to be honest, authentic and sometimes ugly in my images and words, so I’m going to ask the same of you.
I want to travel together into french cuisines, history and cultural practices to expand our imaginings as to what is possible in this world and our everyday lives. Wether this book inspires a visit to Paris or dedicating an evening to experience a new cafe or gallery, its my wish by carving out the Spirit of Travel with every word, every image, we may shake off the everyday cynicism we often adopt as "realistic” wisdom, to dream anew of a reality full of potential.
Between the pages of this book, you will uncover DaisyCode tips on everything you need to know traveling or living in France. I will be revealing the make-up, skin-care and stylings I used at different locations to hopefully spark some inspirations for what could work for your skin type and the looks you like to create best! Not to mention the eye-popping things we saw in iconic and more unconventional locations all over Paris and the country side of Western and Southern France!
When I started putting this book together, I knew I wanted to dedicate it to you - those who don’t always feel like they belong or feel like there’s somewhere they want to be but don’t know where to begin. I am so inspired by you, whether you are traveling alone, with family, friends, or in France to study or live. I took a lot of these images with you in mind. I want to give you a piece of my thoughts - the wonderful and hard experiences that have coloured my life to motivate me to keep climbing higher! In this pursuit we are never truly alone wherever we are!
Our lives on earth are short and the moments we have with each other are even shorter, yet there are instants like shooting starts, that blaze in our memory long after they are gone. I want to share all these moments with you. For example, some of my favourite scenes in France were with these fantastically fashionable older women which embraced me with a overwhelming warmth. Taking in the vintage car, and the retro style I love so well, their eyes shone with precious stories from their past.
While the travels shared in this book will apply differently to you and I, I hope we can together better understand how to live a life that is full and remember how to cry and laugh when we are old and grey like these women.
