Many of the following brands I am about to share with you CAN be bought outside of Japan, but often release limited editions exclusive to Japan! The size of Japanese brands are relatively small and on this visit between season I didn’t see too many pieces that caught my eye. But all the featured pieces will be in Medium, one of two sizes carried by the brands (Small and Medium).
I look fordesign that incorporates retro elements . For me, these treasures represent timelessness and something that I will continue to enjoy time and time again - I look for things that will still looks good after ten years. Another major factor is whether it can be transformed with different accessories? These two photos are a good example where a very casual dress fit for the beach can be made Smart Causal with a belt.
SNIDEL and Onitsuka Tiger released their collaboration [SNIDEL meets. Onitsuka Tiger]. Showing a fresh blend of street x formal, the collection is designed to capture the spirit of the 80s. Pieces keep the unique silhouette and texture of SNIDEL while blending the femininity of Onitsuka Tiger.
Moussy
What attracted me to Moussy from the start was their campaign photography and look-book! With a huge range of designs, and a special homage to its minimalist Japanese heritage, you can find quality clothes at great prices.
Coco Deal
The overall style of Coco Deal is not what I typically wear, however I accidentally came across these two dresses and the excellent texture of the garment and tailoring really won me over!
“A lifestyle brand in the fusion of Japanese heritage and modern flair”
The company was founded in 1949 when 32-year-old former military officer Kihachiro Onitsuka started making sneakers in his home in Kobe, Japan. At that time, the company was Onitsuka or “Tiger” - a creatures who travels thousands of miles a day, with top agility and strength to dominate all other beasts of Asia. Today Onitsuka Tiger is often used inter-changeably with ASICS, but while the two are closely related, they are ultimately different brands. Compared to ASICS, Onitsuka Tiger looks to maintain the many years of brand heritage, creating designs that are noticeably more retro - gaining a loyal following amongst collectors and fashion icons.
